I would like to get into comics more, but I would like to start with the more serious stuff. I have read "Watchmen," and the first volume of "Daredevil," and "Sin City." But, I was wondering if you had any suggestions. (from tryggvedraugen)
Depends what you mean by “serious stuff”.
If you like super-heroes, I’d say Lee and Kirby on Fantastic four is a good place to start, or for more modern stuff, check out pretty much anything by Warren Ellis.
If you like fantasy, Neil Gaiman’s Sandman is top notch. I’d also recommend Alan Moore’s Swamp Thing.
You’ve already read some Frank Miller stuff. “Batman: Year One” is good choice.
That’s what *I* like
Best thing you can do is if your local library has a graphic novel section, check out a bunch of different stuff, and see what clicks.
